Lesson Planning

Lesson Planning⁣

Last week we wrapped up Week 6 of our school year, so now we’re on our midterm break. ⁣

Midterm break is for rest, reflection, and recalibration… and Lesson Planning. ⁣

Reflection enables sound, rational, peaceful pivoting as opposed to manic, overwhelm induced overhauls or a slew of dropped balls.⁣

So, every 6 weeks, I take a week to reflect and recalibrate.⁣

And that is when I do my lesson planning, for 6 weeks at a time.⁣

Here’s the process: ⁣

1️⃣ Reflection ⁣

2️⃣ Adjustments ⁣

This time, I’m adjusting our schedule a bit, having had 6 weeks to truly see what is working and why certain things don’t seem to be (a week or two won’t really tell you that). I’m adding in some loops, so I’ll retype our schedule to reflect that. ⁣

3️⃣ Print Forms ⁣

Next, I print 6 copies of my Weekly Lesson Planner, Weekly Review Form, and Weekly Organizer Form, label them for the following six weeks, and file them in the appropriate folders in my binder. ⁣

I also print many copies of the Week 7-12 page of my Overview/Lesson Planning Page and label that. ⁣

All of these forms are from the Delightfully Feasting Planning System, and I’ve used them for many years. I teach this system (and provide the materials) in my Peaceful Planning Course. ⁣

4️⃣ Drag and Drop⁣

I then either drop or drag forward anything from the previous six weeks that was incomplete. ⁣

5️⃣ Lesson Planning ⁣

Then, I simply go subject by subject and plan lessons. ⁣

I pull out every resource being used for one subject, evaluate where we’re at and where we need to be 6 weeks from now, and plan accordingly. ⁣

This takes considerable time, and I think that time is an intentional and worthy investment into the rich feast I want to spread.⁣

6️⃣ Preparation ⁣

Next I make any copies or prints that need to made and file them in each of my student’s subject binders, clipboards, folders, and drawers.⁣

7️⃣ Trello Links⁣

Next, I open every single link (video, article, image, etc) that any lesson will need and save it to Trello, divided by subject. ⁣

8️⃣ Supplies ⁣

Lastly, everything gets sharpened, replaced, gone through, and refreshed. ⁣
